Reaching Out to the CommunityOver the course of the past few years, the lab has reached out to grade school students within the community, across the state, and across the US, as well as practitioners and faculty from other academic institutions to give workshops, presentations, or hands on experience with technologies people would normally not encounter in their daily lives. Below are just a few snippets from past events. If you are interested in scheduling an event, please contact Eric Kukula or Dr. Elliott. Teaching in the local communityThroughout the 2006-07 academic year Eric Kukula will be a visiting scientist at Lafayette Tecumseh Junior High integrating his research into an 8th grade classroom. This program is run by Purdue's Discovery Learning Center in Discovery Park and is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
Past Workshops at Ohio UniversityFor the past 3 years, we have mobilized the BSPA lab and taken it to Ohio University for the annual Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technical Institute (AIDCTI). The workshop consists of an overview of biometric technologies, their applications, and hands-on lab activities. If you are interested in our lab visiting your location, please contact us.
Past Outreach ActivitiesHere are just a few images from some of the past activities which have included students visiting our lab as well as us mobilizing our lab for spring fest here at Purdue.
