Hygienic Concerns of Biometrics

This research is being led by Christy Blomeke and Dr. Elliott

As biometrics become more prevalent in everyday life, it is important to examine the concerns the user population has with implementations. One of which is the hygienic concerns and use of biometric devices in public settings. At this time, we have conducted some initial research in terms of bacterial transfer from a few different biometric sensors to a gloved hand. Research will continue to investigate differences between the type of sensor surface and various strains of bacteria.
